Translation

Leave it to machines to translate...

I was translating a page for a friend today and, having drawn a blank on a few words, I decided to let Google do the translation... the following are just but a few humorous translations that I ran across:

His house is a boy in Venice during the height of the Public Gardens

instead of

As a youth, he lived in a house in Corso Venezia, near the Public Gardens.

Ettore Conti wife Gianna Casati. They live on a sweatshirt.

instead of

Ettore Conti marries Gianna Casati. They live on Via Cappuccio.

If there was an old woman who lived in a shoe, I guess we can have a newlywed couple living on a sweatshirt!

Now for a more serious explanation, cappuccio is also a name for the hood of a sweatshirt, or jacket, or rain coat... and it could also be the coffee and foamed milk combo (also known as cappuccino)....In this case, it is the name of a street :)

This next one I cannot figure out... at times it is translated correctly, at other times...

Conti is a last name, and it also means accounts, or (especially in the singular form) check, the one that you ask for at a restaurant....

So... if you ever decide to let a machine do your translation... make sure you have someone who speaks the language check it out... or ... you never know what you might be saying :)
