"Living the gospel does not mean the storms of life will pass us by, but we will be better prepared to face them with serenity and peace. 'Search diligently, pray always, and be believing,' the Lord admonished, 'and all things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly.'"
--Joseph B. Wirthlin, "Finding a Safe Harbor," Ensign, May 2000, 59
The site that I use for my scripture study has a page with quotes.
I love quotes. I find them inspiring with their messages that are clear and to the point.
The one I chose today made me think about my storms of life and how I was never promised that I would be kept away from them. However, I was promised that I would be kept safe during them.
As I look back at my life, and reflect on the major storms that occurred, I can see where I felt guided and protected when I was searching the scripture diligengly, praying always, and I was believing.
On the other hand, I can see where I felt tossed to and fro when I had neglected to open my scriptures or pray. I claimed to believe still; however, if I had truly believed, I would have kept on looking for guidance in the scriptures and through prayer.
In short, it is going to rain and storm on all of us, independently of our social status, our beliefs, our physical appearance, etc...; however, if we keep Him close to us, through our reading of the scriptures, personal prayers, and good choices, He will be our raincoat, umbrella, and shelter.
He is always there.
