Be Patient with Ourselves

Today, I came across this quote and it made me think:

"We should learn to be patient with ourselves. Recognizing our strengths and our weaknesses, we should strive to use good judgment in all of our choices and decisions, make good use of every opportunity, and do our best in every task we undertake. We should not be unduly discouraged nor in despair at any time when we are doing the best we can. Rather, we should be satisfied with our progress even though it may come slowly at times."

--Joseph B. Wirthlin, "Patience, a Key to Happiness", Ensign, May 1987, 30

I cannot count the times I have been harsh on myself because I did not reach a goal, or fell behind in a task, or took care of one thing neglecting another.

This quote is here to tell me to take it easy. If I am doing the best I can, that is all I can do. The rest... can wait until tomorrow.

We walk one step at a time. We accomplish goals one step at a time.

Even as we are different when we walk, some of us can take longer steps, some shorter. Some may be faster, some may be slower. But we all take just one step at the time.
