He Is Always There

Yesterday, I ended the post with the sentence "He is always there."

I thought the sentence would make a good beginning for today's post.

I am sure that there have been plenty of times we have felt as we have been abandoned and we had to face difficulties on our own. However, when I think back to those times, I cannot help but remembering the poem Footprints in the Sand by Mary Stevenson.

In this poem, Mary describes a walk on the beach with the Savior. During this walk, this individual sees his/her life played in the sky and sees sets of footprints in the sand along with it. Sometimes there are two sets, and sometimes only one.

He/she notices it was during the trying time in life that only one set could be seen and proceeds to question the Savior about Him leaving during the time He was needed most.

Her concluding stanza reads

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."

He is always there. He is able and willing to carry us during our difficult times in life.
All we have to do is to stay close to Him and reach out for Him. He will do the rest!
