No One Is Losing

I came across this quote and it made me think:

"...Proper attitude in this crisis-dominated world is a priceless possession. Never before is it more important for all of us to move forward with conviction. We may be behind, but we are not losing if we are moving in the right direction. God will not score our performances until the end of the journey."

--Elder Marvin J Ashton, "Who's Losing?" Ensign, Nov. 1974, 41

What a comforting thought this is. I may have made mistakes; I might have things which have not gone the way I planned for them to go; I might not see myself as far ahead as others are; however, if I keep on the right path, or get back on it, should a detour have occurred, I will make it to the end and my score will be determined at that point.

Another important thing to remember is that, unlike everything else in life, we are not compared one against the other. All our Father in Heaven will consider is how well we did against ourselves. Did we do the best we could do? Did we give all of our heart, mind, might, and strength to following Him and His Son? If so, we will have won.

Each and everyone one of us alone is determining the final score. It does not matter how anyone else plays the game of life, we are individually responsible for our own choices, actions, thoughts, and, ultimately, our outcome.

May this new year see us keep the resolution to cultivate a proper attitude and keep moving forward with conviction...in the right direction.
