I should really give up Facebook as I am always on there; however, until I gather the courage to do so, let me share something I saw this morning:
It came from Silly Stupid Statuses & Stuff 24/7.
I just loved it.
Jokes aside though, I love seniors. They have lived a life and can share so many things with us. They can teach us how to be happy in small things, how to laugh at ourselves, how to endure, how to live relationships.
My seniors grew up in an era with no cell phones, no computers, no other technological device and spent a good part of their time out in the open and not glued in front of the TV and computer screens watching shows or playing games. They rose early in the morning and went to bed early. They knew how to make money decisions and how to wait.
Today we live in a society that gives us everything instantly and if we don't get what we want "right now" we get crossed. We have a sense of entitlement that goes beyond anyone's comprehension.
I hope that we will take the time and slow down and enjoy our lives. Let us take the time to talk to our seniors and see what they can teach us. Let us learn of them that we might also have a good life, a life of honor, hard honest work, and enjoyment in simple things!
They may drive fast so they won't forget where they are going, but I am pretty sure that the memory of their past is still very much alive within them and would be very glad to share it with us!
