Today's quote is from the famous actress Mary Tyler Moore.
"Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave." -- Mary Tyler Moore
I guess, when things don't go the way we want them to go, we can think about how we took a chance.
Then we can tell ourselves that it did not work and we made a mistake, but we learned from it and now we are a better person for it.
When I was growing up, there was a program called "Lo Zecchino D'Oro." It was sort of like the "American Idol" program, except that the singers were all children. I don't remember if there was a prize to be won or not. But, I do remember it was fun to watch.
Anyway, I am digressing here a bit. I remember this particular song that basically outlined the principle that if you don't try something, you miss out. Only those who tried had the chance at obtaining something.
It is true. It is only by stretching ourselves, by getting out of our comfort zone that we can find out what we are capable of doing.
And, should we not achieve our goal, we can say that at least we tried and, in the process, we grew. So, in the end, we can say that there is always something to be gained by taking chances.
