Yesterday, at Church, everyone seemed to be talking about gratitude.
That brought to mind a quote I read a few days ago:
"We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we ... cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. ..."
--Thomas S. Monson, "An Attitude of Gratitude," Ensign, Feb. 2000, 2
If you think about it, when you are grateful, you look for the positive in life.
You may be grateful for the rain that quenches earth's thirst, for the rainbow after the storm, for the colors found in nature.
Yoy may be grateful for your family, your home, your job, your health, and your friends.
These are all positive things.
You may also be grateful for the challenges that come your way, because they make you strong.
Or, you may even be grateful for the load of dishes you have to do, because it means you have dishes and, most important, you have food to place on those dishes.
Whatever thing you are grateful for, you are looking at the positive side of things.
And when we look at things in a positive way, our whole outlook on life becomes positive and depression is chased away.
So, this week, find at least one thing each day you want to give thanks for.
If you want to make it more challenging, double it each day...
... one thing on Monday,
two on Tuesday,
four on Wednesday ...
By the time Sunday rolls along, you should have 64 things you are grateful for :)
