Burden or Delight?
The quote that followed my scripture reading this morning said:
"When we love the Lord, obedience ceases to be a burden. Obedience becomes a delight. When we love the Lord, we seek less for things that benefit us and turn our hearts toward things that will bless and uplift others."
--Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin The Great Commandment, "The Great Commandment", October 2007 General Conference
This quote made me think not only about what my attitude is towards following the commandments, but also about my attitude about my dealings with others...
Do I find it a delight to help others or do I find it a burden?
Do I find it a delight to clean the house or do I find it a burden?
How about cooking a meal, doing the dishes, doing the laundry (yes, folding and putting away included)....?
If I answer that any of them are a burden, then, perhaps, I should look at myself and ask the question: Do I love those for whom I clean, cook, wash, etc... ?
Eye opening indeed, at least for me!
What is it for you? Is it a burden or is it a delight?
